Snicker Doodles

Not great if you just want to eat the dough, but once they are in cookie form they are dangerously snackable.

Ingredients

  • 3 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 1 ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 egg
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • ¾ tsp ground cinnamon (for coating)

Preparation

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

  2. 2

Prepare cookie sheets with parchement paper.

You may rub the sheets with butter or oil instead of using parchment paper.

  3. 3

Mix the dry ingredients that are not for topping (flour, baking soda, salt, cream of tartar, and nutmeg) in a bowl and set aside.

  4. 4

In another bowl, cream the butter, sugar, and vanilla together until light and fluffy.

  5. 5

Add the eggs one at time, mixing until each is incorporated.

  6. 6

Add the dry ingredients a third at a time, mixing until well-blended.

  7. 7

    Create cookie dough balls.

A little larger than a rounded tablespoon of dough makes a good sized cookie.

  8. 8

Mix coating ingredients (sugar and cinnamon) in a small bowl.

  9. 9

Roll each cookie dough ball in the topping ingredient bowl and place them on the cookie sheet.

  10. 10

Bake cookies until they are firm and have small cracks on top, which will be 12-13 minutes.

  11. 11

Serve after letting cool for 2 minutes.
